Privacy Policy

Version 2026-11. Explains what OptiqJournal (a product of OptiqWave) collects and why.

1. What we collect

  • Account data: name, email, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself), optional trading experience and primary market, whether you accepted our terms and when, and your Google account ID if you sign in with Google.
  • Trading data you upload: executions from your broker files, trades derived from them, your journal entries, tags, ratings, notes, any screenshots you attach, and your settings (currency, time zone, theme, fees).
  • Security and account-event records: sign-up, email confirmation, access-period activation and expiry events with timestamps, and the IP address used at sign-up, kept to prevent abuse and duplicate promotional accounts. Our servers may also keep routine technical logs.
  • We do not collect broker passwords or API keys, payment card details (none are requested during the free promotion), or government ID.

2. How we use it

To provide the journal and analytics, authenticate you, send account emails (email confirmation, welcome, and notices at 30, 7 and 1 day before and at the end of your free access), protect the service from abuse and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information or your trading data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with other users.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use one essential, HTTP-only session cookie to keep you logged in, and your browser's local storage for your theme preference. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and Google sign-in loads a script from Google, so Google receives your IP address when those load.

4. Who processes it

Our hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider and, if you choose it, Google (for sign-in) process data on our behalf to run the service. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety, and in a business transfer with notice to you.

5. Security

Each account's data is stored separately and every request is checked against your logged-in account. Passwords are hashed, session tokens and email links are stored only as hashes, and connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you of a breach affecting your data as the law requires.

6. Retention

We keep your data while your account exists, including after the free promotion ends so you can view and export it. You can delete your trading data from Settings, or ask us to delete your account and we will remove it, except records we must keep for legal or abuse-prevention reasons (such as the account-event log).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the California CCPA/CPRA and similar US state laws, or the GDPR/UK GDPR for users in Europe) you may have the right to access, correct, export, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising. Contact us to exercise these rights; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.

8. International transfers

We operate in the United States, so your data is processed and stored there, which may be outside your own country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. Children

The service is for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
